In the fall of 2004, the Washburn Percussion Collective was founded as a student run honor’s small ensemble at Washburn University in Topeka, KS.  The WPC strives to educate and entertain its listeners by performing music with a variety of instrumentations to show that percussion music encompasses a great deal of styles and sounds.  Their programs include classic percussion literature, ethnic percussion, marimba quartet, ragtime classics and contemporary percussion music.

The Collective has performed on the Washburn University campus for student art exhibits and for Washburn Percussion Ensemble concerts.  During the spring of 2006, WPC performed a concert in Garden City, Kansas at the Community Congregational Church.  In 2008, the WPC, with Linda Maxey, returned to Garden City to clinic and perform at Garden City High School.

WPC strives to become more prevalent in the Topeka community, as well as spark an interest in percussion music.  They have performed with solo percussionists Linda Maxey, Jeff Moore, Lisa Rogers, Bob Becker, Dave Samuels, and Tom Morgan.
